Modern Slavery, Human Rights and Human Trafficking Statement

CJN Concepts Limited provides Management services as Principal Contractor per the Construction (Design and Management) Regs. 2015, and are aware of their duties under the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We respect the rights of all humans as protected in UK Law.

Modern Slavery describes the illegal servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking. Victims have their freedom restricted; they are exploited for the financial gain of others. Evidence suggests that human trafficking is rife in the UK. Though not currently required to produce a Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement under current legislation, we have produced this statement to demonstrate our commitment to transparency throughout the structure of our supply chain which currently includes approximately 30 employees, and 200 directly appointed contractors and suppliers currently on our ‘approved list’.

The statement refers to action we have already taken and continue to enforce:

  • We are committed to ensuring our Employees and Suppliers are compensated fairly (per ETI Base Code), and to agreed timescales for the work undertaken on the company’s behalf.
  • We will continue to invest suitable resources in the development of the competency of our Employees (including their skills, knowledge, understanding, abilities, training, attitudes and other qualities) for them to enjoy a fulfilling career.
  • We continue to consider current policies that may be affected by our Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement, so we can review and amend them as necessary (and at least each year). These include the following:

o Health and Safety Policy

o Anti-corruption and Bribery Policy

o Code of Ethics, MR and CSR Policy

o Environmental and Ecology Policy

o Equal Opportunities Policy

o Quality Policy

  • We have formed a Modern Slavery Strategic Working Group that meets regularly to assess and control any risk, to implement the UN Guiding Principles on Human Rights, and cascade our requirements within our supply chain.
  • For due diligence, we have initiated a pre-qualification process for new suppliers wishing to work on our behalf, which will include an assessment of their ability to undertake relevant tasks and their Health and Safety Management Systems, as well as a declaration of their commitment to our regularly reviewed Code of Conduct for CJN Suppliers and Contractors. We have also included the requirement for them to declare their awareness of commitment to, and compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
  • We procure from ethical sources. For example, we retain Forestry Stewardship Council certification. • Where any employee or supplier suspects any non-compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015, they can report this in confidence (and if necessary, anonymously) to any JMS Director. The Managing Director and the MS SWG (with or without the involvement of any other relevant supplier) will escalate the matter to relevant authorities (e.g. the GLAA).
  • We will regularly raise awareness of issues surrounding modern slavery and human trafficking by regularly providing information in the CJN portal.
  • We will continue to monitor the risk of slavery taking place within our supply chain and seek to demonstrate our effectiveness at ensuring these risks remain low.

This Statement will be reviewed at least annually.

Signed
