CJN Concepts Limited are a nationally operating construction (design and build, shop fitting and refurbishment) company. We understand our duty to carry out our work in accordance with relevant legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and any associated statutory regulation. This Policy will act as an internal ‘umbrella policy’ for the formulation and review of all applicable company policies.

Our Business Management System has been certified by a UKAS accredited body for meeting the requirements of ISO9001:2015 (quality management) and ISO14001:2015 (environmental management). Our Occupational Health and Safety management system is aligned to ISO45001:2018.

We aim to maintain high levels of health and safety throughout all our projects for the benefit of all employees, contractors, visitors, and anyone else affected by our work. We support designers to design future risk out of our projects wherever practicable. We aim to minimise negative environmental impacts by working in conformance with our Business Management System.

While overall responsibility for health and safety rests with the HSE Lead and Directorate team, we recognise that every individual is responsible for their own health and safety and that of other people. Therefore, we actively encourage all to ensure Health and Safety is always given priority when planning, supervising or performing any work task, and to report any unsafe act or condition to their Supervisor, Line manager,  the H&S Lead or the MD immediately.

Therefore, the company are committed to:

• Meeting all relevant statutory requirements
• Providing sufficient time and resources to implement this policy effectively
• Identifying, eliminating, and providing adequate control for the risks of work-related ill health or injury arising from our construction, or associated activity to prevent accidents or ill health
• Providing and maintaining safe means of access and egress to any work place, safe and healthy working conditions, and safe plant and equipment
• Consulting workers on matters relating to their health and safety
• Ensuring safe handling, storage and use of substances
• Providing suitable and sufficient information, instruction, supervision and training to employees
• Taking account of opportunities to improve workers health and safety by monitoring changes in legislation or associated guidance and by utilising the latest technologies
• Encouraging prompt reporting to enable proportionate investigation of any incident
• Setting and attaining specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time limited business objectives relating directly to the organisation’s occupational health and safety performance
• Monitoring undertakings, as well as the company’s strengths, weaknesses opportunities or threats to proactively identify areas to progress or improve our management systems This policy will be reviewed at least annually and revised as necessary.

The Directors of the company take it personally to assure all workers that no one will ever be asked to do any work they consider to be unsafe. There will be no penalty if work is stopped on legitimate health or safety grounds. If you see anything unsafe, with the potential to cause harm or loss – please stop it and report it and be safe.
